Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq and an official accompanying delegation arrived on a state visit to Kuwait on Monday. HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Sultan Haitham and his accompanying delegation at Kuwait airport. A fleet of Kuwait’s air force jets accompanied Sultan Haitham’s plane over Kuwaiti airspace.

Sultan Haitham was received by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah and senior ministers and state officials. Sultan Haitham is accompanied by a high-ranking official delegation. Upon his arrival, the national anthems of both countries were played. Sultan Haitham greeted several senior state officials of the Kuwaiti government, while HH the Amir welcomed the Omani officials accompanying Sultan Haitham. Artillery fired 21 rounds to welcome the arrival of the Sultan.

Sultan Haitham received Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad at Bayan Palace. The meeting was attended by the head of the accompanying honorary delegation, HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah. HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal then held an official session of talks with Sultan Haitham at Bayan Palace. During the talks, the deep-rooted ties between the two countries were touched on, as well as boosting bilateral relations in various fields, said Minister of State for Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah.

The talks also dealt with ways of expanding frameworks to support and enhance the progress of the GCC, the most prominent issues of common interest, and some matters in light of the latest events regionally and globally. The talks were attended by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad and top officials from both countries. HH the Amir later held a dinner banquet in honor of Sultan Haitham and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of his state visit to Kuwait.
