Work to begin on first labor city in Kuwait

Kuwait Municipality officially handed over on Monday the site of the first integrated residential city project for low-income workers to the investing company to begin implementation in Subhan, covering an area of 40,000 sq m to accommodate 3,000 workers. Director-General of the Municipality Saud Al-Dabbous said in a press statement “the project is one of the important projects that will contribute to eliminating the phenomenon of bachelor housing in residential areas”.

The municipality emphasized its efforts to develop integrated residential complexes for workers, starting with this workers’ city that includes all services, and social, recreational and commercial activities to meet the requirements and needs of this workforce. He explained that one of the most important components of the project is the presence of 16 residential complexes, each floor containing bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, lounges for relaxation, laundry service rooms and personal storage rooms.

It also includes two commercial complexes consisting of restaurants, cafes and shops, in addition to administrative and governmental buildings, a security guard building, a police station, government offices and a mosque, alongside recreational activities. Dabbous thanked the national cadres of engineers in the survey sector and project sector for their efforts in completing the final stage of this project.

The statement clarified that immediate delivery was made to Kuwait Real Estate Company to commence the actual construction of the integrated workers’ residential city with technical, health, environmental and service standards to be implemented within a year and a half under the BOT system.
