HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, accompanied by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, visited the Kuwait Disabled Sport Club on Tuesday evening on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Hh the Amir was welcomed by Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Minister of State for Communication Affairs Dawood Marafi, Director-General of Public Authority for Sport Yousef Abdullah Al-Baidan and the Club’s Chairman Shafi Mohammad Al-Hajri.
HH the Amir addressed the gathering by saying he was pleased to visit the club to congratulate its members, their families and officials on the holy month of Ramadan. He said Kuwait, with all sectors concerned, has been paying much attention to the disabled as being a main component of the Kuwaiti social fabric, providing them with much care and support. He thanked the club’s administration and everyone concerned for their care of the members, citing championships in several international events, particularly winning 24 medals at the Sharjah International Para Athletics Forum and the 15th Fazza International Athletics Championship in the UAE.
HH the Amir also thanked the families of the champions and the disabled champions, who had proved their strong resolve and will to address challenges, urging them to keep on attaining goals and maintaining their levels. HH the Amir called on those in charge of the affairs of the disabled to adopt all-out policies to support, empower and incorporate them in society by providing them with health, housing and educational care and enacting appropriate legislation to protect them.
Hajri pledged to maintain and continue serving the dear homeland. Addressing HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal, he conveyed congratulations and greetings of all disabled people to HH the Amir on the holy month of Ramadan. Hajri said “Kuwait, upon the wise leadership of Your Highness, implements all laws in all governmental agencies in the country”, affirming obedience and loyalty to HH the Amir for the public interest of Kuwait’s present and future.
He lauded the good of the Al-Sabah Family, indicating that generations are taught to love and be loyal to this country to raise its flag in international arenas. “Kuwait has participated in multiple international arenas and won the presidency of IWBF Asia Oceania for a four-year term, thanks to the directives of Your Highness that were implemented by the Public Authority for Sport,” Hajri said, addressing HH the Amir.
This came in recognition of Kuwait for its support for sports of the disabled, he said, noting that Kuwait’s disabled players have varied medals that enable them to take part in 2024 Paris Olympics. Hajri stated that the club communicates with all government bodies and offers proposals and views regarding the disabled and the need to integrate them into society. They have served the country and are determined to continue their efforts for the sake of the dear homeland, he concluded, giving some examples of successful disabled dignitaries in the country. A documentary on the achievements of the club was displayed and HH the Amir was given a souvenir on this occasion.
HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal, accompanied by HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Dr Mohammad, also visited Kuwait Blind Association on Tuesday, marking the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. Upon arrival, HH the Amir was received by Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Children Affairs Sheikh Feras Al-Sabah, Board Manager of the Association Fayez Al-Azmi and the Association’s Secretary Mansour Al-Enezi. HH the Amir delivered a speech on the occasion, where he expressed his best wishes on the holy month of Ramadan and asked Almighty Allah for his blessings on all Arab and Islamic nations.
HH the Amir noted that today he marks and praises the exerted efforts and roles of “our visionary sons in the Kuwait Blind Association”. “Through their participation in sports tournaments at the regional and international levels, and their hosting last February of the Asian Blind Union Conference, with the participation of 24 countries, consolidated the State of Kuwait’s interest in people of determination, especially the blind, at the legislative and executive levels,” HH the Amir added.
HH the Amir also congratulated the recommendation of the secretary of the association for the position of Secretary-General of the Asian Federation and his selection as a member of the executive committee of the World Blind Union. HH the Amir also directed relevant state institutions to follow up on the issues and needs of the Blind Association members, support their activities, and provide devices, machines and tools that help them in their lives, including job opportunities that suit their circumstances and encourage their distinguished determination.
